Our Story

Creating Connection, one thread at a time.

The Big Weave creates collaborative weaving experiences that bring people together through creativity.

Our large-scale textile artworks grow one thread at a time, with every participant making their own unique contribution. No artistic experience is needed—everyone is welcome, and every thread has value.

In a busy world, weaving offers something increasingly rare: a chance to slow down. The gentle, repetitive rhythm of weaving encourages people to pause, be present and connect with those around them. As the artwork grows, so do the conversations, shared experiences and sense of belonging.

Founded by tapestry artist Diane Wood, The Big Weave is now led by her sisters Amanda Rutherford and Davina Callen, who continue to create welcoming, inclusive experiences that celebrate creativity, connection and community.

Every thread tells a story. Together, we weave a community.
